Portrait of Lacie Gibson

Lacie's love for yoga began in her mid-teens when she was introduced to the practice via her spiritual mentor and yogi guide, Mark Bonta. As a high school student, she would wake early each morning to experience her teacher's deep reverence to his yogic practice, until one day he invited her to join him. From that day forward she embraced daily dharma, teachings of the 8 Limbs of Astanga Yoga, and of the physical practice of Astanga Yoga. This foundational wisdom kindled the lifelong joy Lacie now expresses as a teacher and practitioner.

Deciding to take her practice further, she enrolled in her first 200 hour yoga teacher training with Ananda Institute of Yogic Wisdom and Ayurveda. During this time she learned the value of daily meditation, deepened her knowledge in the rich history of yoga and dove headfirst into the 8 Limbs of Astanga yoga. Her Acharya, Ananda Deviika' Ma', gave her the spiritual name Vimala' Devii, which translates to: Goddess who is Pure / Spotless.

Even before Lacie graduated with her 200-hr certificate, she knew she wanted to take her 300-hr advanced training that same summer. She didn't know where this journey would take her but she knew she had to go. In the course of her research, she found Awakened Life School of Yoga in Costa Rica. Having been to Costa Rica multiple times, and being moved by the country and its people, Lacie knew it was a perfect fit.

3 months after graduating with her 200-hr certificate, Lacie flew to Costa Rica and was immediately embraced by what would be the newest extension of her yoga family. During her time with Awakened Life School of Yoga, Lacie discovered a deeper sense of her capacity and the embodied teacher she had always dreamt of becoming.

Over time Lacie has studied Astanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative and Chair yoga. Her practice embodies and demonstrates acts of Passion, Strength and Intention. Every movement deliberate. Every muscle nuance respected. Every pose honored.
